An 88 Mustang LX much like this one, sans sunroof.
And by the 14” rubber-coated wheels, you can tell, it is not the 5.0 LX... which was the fastest car Ford sold at the time (lighter than the Mustang GT), it was conversely the SLOWEST car Ford sold at the time, with the Lima 2.3 I4, with the self-destructive AOD (automatic-overdrive) transmission.
But it was mine, and I paid for it, and it actually carted around a fair amount of stuff in the hatch area.
It also survived ditch excursions on more than one occaision.
A far cry from an SVO or a new EcoBoost, though. Barely capable of wearing the same nameplate.

My sister’s first car - 2 years older in notchback form. 4 cylinder 4 speed. Damn that thing needed a 5th gear SO BAD.
We built it from scratch though, my dad’s trick to teach us stuff was to buy a car with a blown motor for 500 bucks and that would be our car once we fixed it.
Great plan.
